OCTOBER 2015 CHALLENGE

I have had a lot of trouble with my back since returning from France ,but was determined to try the Paint and Draw challenge,which I enjoyed painting and distracted me from time to time.

September 2015 Provence

We were in Provence for two weeks in September. At first I tried using chalk pastels. I bought a box of five colours, which was a little limiting but a good exercise.
This is a study in some ochre woods.

This picture I did in both chalk pastel and in oils. I had a much greater range of oil colours but working in pastels is much freer.

Working in oil I put in more detail . The range of colour was obviously much better.

The sketches below were completed on the few days we had some rain.
